The jobs behind the reputation.
The full stories — recoveries, breakdowns and rebuilds from across the Goldfields, Pilbara and Perth. Real jobs, real photos, no staging.
Recovering an abandoned drill rig from the bush.
A client had a drill rig stranded on an old lease. Parts had been stripped off it, so it couldn't be started or driven out under its own power — and it still had to come off the lease.
Drillspec got the call. We sized up the rig on the ground, hired in a hydraulic Enerpac setup, and used it to safely lift and shift the rig so it could be moved — no engine, no drivetrain needed. We ran the job from the first call to load-out.
The rig was recovered from the bush and handed back to the client, ready for whatever came next — without the cost or risk of writing it off where it sat. Another one sorted.
From first call to spinning again — under 48 hours.
A client rang with a rig down on loss of rotation — every hour stopped is metres not drilled.
Our exploration specialist talked the client's crew through a series of tests over the phone and pinned the fault to a failed rotation pump. We loaded a replacement from the client's warehouse and hit the road to Port Hedland — old pump out, new rotation pump in.
Rig back up and spinning inside 48 hours of the first phone call — diagnostics to done, one trip, no second mobilisation.
A complete rig rebuild, stripped back to bare bones.
A valued client's exploration rig had reached the point where patch-ups weren't enough — it needed a complete rebuild, done properly.
One of our exploration leads stepped out of the bush to run the job in Perth — tearing the rig back to bare frame and bringing it back to life piece by piece over several months. Clean, precise workmanship at every stage.
A rig rebuilt to last, with the workmanship there to see — and more rigs lined up behind it for the same treatment.
A fleet of Leopards — stripped, rebuilt, delivered on time.
A fleet of Sandvik Leopard surface drills due for major work under a shut program — booms, masts and engines all at the end of their interval, on a schedule with no room to slip.
Full boom and mast strip-downs and refurbishments across the fleet — feed rails, chains and wear components renewed — plus engine mid-life rebuilds and the mechanical work in between, all run to the shut schedule.
Every Leopard handed back rebuilt and on time. The photos tell it — strip, refurb, and back up ready to drill.
